Urdu Unicode vs InPage: What Is the Difference?

Urdu writers often meet two worlds: InPage, a publishing program, and Unicode, the standard used by phones, browsers and Office apps. Knowing the difference saves a lot of frustration.

How they differ

Unicode gives each Urdu letter a standard code, so any compatible app can read the text. InPage uses its own file format and internal encoding, designed for page layout and Nastaliq calligraphy. Text copied from InPage may not paste cleanly elsewhere.

Which should you use?

You can draft in Unicode with the Urdu typing tool and move the text into a layout program later.

Can I convert between them?

Conversion utilities exist, but check the result carefully for broken letters and spacing.

Conclusion

Choose Unicode for sharing and storage, and keep InPage for final print layout if your printer needs it.
