Introduction
Sometimes Urdu text is trapped in a photo, a screenshot or a scanned page, and you cannot copy it. This tool uses optical character recognition (OCR) to read the letters in an image and give them back as editable text. It is useful for students, office workers and anyone who needs to reuse printed Urdu without retyping it.
How to Use
- Choose an image, or copy a screenshot and paste it with Ctrl + V.
- Press Extract text and wait. The first run downloads the OCR engine and Urdu language data, which can take a little while.
- Check the text and correct mistakes, then press Copy.
Features
- Works with photos and screenshots.
- Your image is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to our server.
- Editable result in a right-to-left box.
Privacy note
The OCR library (Tesseract.js) and the Urdu language data are downloaded from a public content delivery network when you press the button. The image itself stays on your device.
Tips
- Use a sharp, well-lit image with dark text on a plain background.
- Crop away borders and pictures.
- Prefer larger text over tiny print.
Limitations
Urdu OCR is difficult, especially for Nastaliq, decorative fonts, handwriting and low-quality images. Expect missing marks, wrong letters and broken words. Always proofread, and never rely on it for official documents without checking.
